The original painting was inspired by a peacock that just showed up at my aesthetician's neighborhood five years ago. He stayed around, much to the delight of the neighborhood children and was embraced, fed and missed whenever he wandered off. His last day was a rare, winter, sunny day and Kevin made the most of it. He pranced around, spread his feathers, let the kids chase him and had a nice meal. The following morning, he was discovered lifeless, at what looked to be a predator attack - we have lots of coyotes here. As soon as the news reached me, I knew I had to pay homage to him. I had done an earlier 5" x 7" painting - which sold right away, but this time I wanted something bigger. He gave so much joy to those of us who knew him and I think the painting is a fitting tribute to that.
