In 2022 I created some black and white faces with colorful backgrounds, inspired by some photos a dear friend, who was traveling in France sent me. I loved making those and he loved them so much, he wanted to purchase one. He died suddenly and unexpectedly, a year ago today. He was so young and vibrant, he was the last person one would expected to die. It crushed all of us who knew him and loved him. I stopped doing anything in that style and then one day in 2023 this came out of me. It is different enough from the other ones, I was able to break the cycle of sadness. The original painting sold, but this would be beautiful in a giclée or metal print. It is so vibrant.
